Florida is nicknamed the ''Sunshine State'', and with its varied geography, it might have been designed for pleasure and open-air pastimes. The Floridian plateau is flat topped and low lying, extending in a series of gently graduating terraces into the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Gulf of Mexico to the west. They say that wherever you are in Florida, the sea is never more than 60 miles away - the nearest freshwater, however, is likely to be considerably closer in fact its right outside. With an abundance of rivers, lakes and springs, Florida is a paradise for all forms of water sports, as well as just to enjoy the scenery and the beautiful sunsets! Florida has around a thousand wonderful golf courses, and that must be enough for even the most dedicated golf fanatic! The other main sport is tennis with countless courts everywhere. If flying is your forte, there are many local airports offering lessons and rental facilities. In addition, we have the traditional holidaymaker seeking sun, sea and the fantastic man-made attractions. |
